In 2016 Chantel became a cancer survivor and stem cell transplant recipient. She strongly believes in giving back, especially to those who have helped her family. She is passionate about making contributions to charities that are close to her heart, including Tomorrow Stems From You, Sunnybrook Hospital, One Match, Canadian Blood Services, Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, SickKids Hospital, Maurice Cody Public School, and The Scott Mission, to name a few.
